Ran the removal tool, but can’t get my homepage to not redirect to the myzor homepage.

Tried the fix and it did not work. In the smitfraudfix.cmd there was no choices for me to choose from. How come ? That’s as far as I got.

The instructions got rid of the actual homepage thing when i go into internet explorer..but i still get pop ups when i go on the internet asking me to download all kinds of stuff??

I had it on my computer and Norton Internet Security did not remove it, Spy Killer pro did not remove it. I purchased Webroot Spy sweeper and it removed it completely. I Highly revommend Spy Sweeoer.

I searched my PC with 5 differnt software types and NOTHING was found. But… go into SAFE MODE as instructed with AVG 7.5 and Smitfraudfix and ran them, found 29 bits to delete then smitfraudfix sorted the rest.

my mate gave me his laptop and ask me to have a look at it because he keeped getting pop ups and virus alarts so i had a look and i installed zonealarm Security suite on it and ran a virus scan and spyware scan i found 2 infected files and deleted it but he still keeps getting pop ups so i googled it and found this website and i was suprised what i was reading. my friend uses limewire pro alot and he might have got it from there. i told him if he had any recovery CDs he said no he said he only had a restore save point and if i restore it back would the worm follow does anyone know ????

It depends on the restore points, if he was alredy infected when the restore point was created, the problem remains.

Best thing to do is run HiJackThis and post the result on Bleepingcomputer or your laptop manufacturer’s own Forum. They can analyze and give you a view of what are the threats on your computer.

i have done a restore on the laptop and took it back 4 days ago and it seems to have worked there r no more pop ups and no more silly websites loading as home page. just to let people know if they r still having the same problem try to restore your pc back to a date u know u is safe

Had this pesty worm - used Webroots Spy Sweeper both in safe mode and again under regular start up. It is gone!

Hi. you don’t need any software to solve this problem. start windows in safe mode, go to c:\program files\gold codec and delete all the files. this will stop the bar from loading.

If you have followed the removal procedure carefully you should have fixed it. If not, you may go to sites that can analyze HJT files such as bleepingcompter.com and computing.net. Go and post your HJT logs there so that they can analyze it.

These all seem like very complex routes to try and get rid of this myzor malware. I simply logged onto my computer in safe mode (F8 when you boot it up. I selected the applications mode so i could access the internet. Then I downloaded Windows DEFENDER free from the microsoft website and ran it, and then downloaded spybot search and destroy free (do a google search), and ran that also. You get prompted to re boot your computer and then all worked just fine, and for free too. BONUS. Hope it works for you too

I followed the steps completely. Yet it keeps returning. Appears to load even in the safe mode, I get the warning balloon. If it is running while in safe mode will the tools see it so it can be removed? What are my options?

This software is more annoying than a virus itself. The bubbles pop up literally every five seconds telling you that your computer is infected. If you get a virus, just do a system restore back to the last update before the virus got on your computer. It will restore your computer to the way it was before the virus hit. Just go to start, help and support center. When the window opens, click on system restore. Click the option to restore my computer to an earlier time. Choose a date before you got the virus. It may be a good idea to back up important documents and music. That is a good thing to do regardless. Good luck!

Please proceed to SmitFRaudFix procedure, it should remove myzor. It is a free tool but you can donate to the author if you want.

My laptop has caught this annoying “w32.myzer.fk @yf” trojan/virus. I have used “windows defender” to scan &remove it. Its all free! and took less than 5 mins.

i have tried the smitfraud thingy,
safemoded and scanned with trendmicro housecall, then symantec security check then bitdefender online scanner they all detected stuff and some of it was deleted but still getting the same broblem so im off to try the links on this here page will let you know how i go.

how to remove virus is W32.Myzor.FK@yf

I am trying to run Ad-aware in safe mode but getting the following error:
Application Error - Exception EAccess Violation in module Ad-Aware.exe @ 001DA25C. Access Violation @ address 005DA25C in module ‘Ad-Aware.exe.’ Read of address 00000418

I can run Ad-aware with no problems when not in safe mode. Only get this error when trying to run the program in safe mode.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Ad-aware.

Any ideas?

When I try to run the Ad-ware in safe mode I get message that windows installer can not run in safe mode……… anyone know how to fix? I can’t get past this step to get rid of this pesky thing. Thanks,
