Most antivirus i tried where unable to clean. So after 48h (normally within 2 im up and running) i go with the FFR solution (fdisk, format and re-install)
my important softwares got corrupted with this virus…it is detected but avira anti virus can not repair the files..is there any anti virus that can repair files infected by w32.virut.u
I’m currently having success cleaning this virus with Norton AV Corporate Edition. This Trojan is highly infectious, spreading to every executable file on the system. Tip: Remember to rest your folder options to show hidden and system files and folders! Just when the sytem was thought to be clean, a notification popped up that indicated more of the same in a hidden system folder! I am currently scanning “System Volume Information and Norton AV corporate has removed the W32.Virut.U virus from over 3,100 files and is still working.
I had to remove the hard drive from the affected system, place it in an external case then scan from a second unaffected system.
Best wishes.. After reinserting the drive in my laptop, I will most likely have to write zeroes, format and do a clean reinstall of Win XP.
Realy We want aremoval to this virus specially
It corrupt alot of important Softwares
Is there any way to manually remove this virus. cuz i have formated and reintall windows three times now. Still unable to get rid of this. Please any solutions….
drweb cureit worth a try delete all infected files with it
then format (dont need zeros) and u can leave 1 partition up but u need to make sure no exe file there ;) or scr save pics docs etc in d format c reinstall win install some free antivir and dont use your cd.s throw them lol
i did tried with zilion programs and with reg editing once u get virut out of the hard this comp starts to get nuts couse there.s no program that can cure all executables
if u catch it in early faze u can get lucky with reinstaling windows important system restore turned off when scanning with drweb
i wonder why we pay for antivirus software there.s no complete protection as they say so dammit
I used the tool removeit_pro and threatfire and it cleaned out the virus threads on one of the infected NBs.
You can get rid of this virus from all your drives(except root drive) with Norton av corporate edition.
When you are done save all your important data in the drives which you have recently cleaned, than format your root drive and re-install windows.
To Remove Virut.u please try Avast antivirus. Its good and it will remove the threat.
A new flavor (or a morphed version) of VIRUT has emerged in the last week which is completely unfixable. It survives the deletion of all partitions and their recreation unless you cycle power before creating the new partitions and NOTHING can clean it from the system (period).
Some (with real emphasis) antivirus products will detect part of its attack; but, are incomplete in their detection and cleaning. I think a real source of that is that it is being detected as several old attacks rather than the new one it truly is.
I bet if you ran a DBAN (Darik’s boot and Nuke) on the hard drive it would be gone. DBAN erases everything, then depending on the setting you choose, it over writes all the data, erases it again, then over writes again etc. That should get it off the drive completely. But say goodbye to your data, because as soon as you import your infected again (unless you backed up prior to the infection). Symantec seems to have a fix for it though.
Hello all, I would like to inform you that there is no Anti-Virus program out there that can repair any of the infected files. The only possible soluton is to boot using something like knoppix to recover your files and then perform a complete reinstall. the longer the computers stays on, the more files get corrupted and please do not reboot if you have file to recover because you would not be able too. the virus is a real pain in the you know what. I feel everyone’s pain because i had to deal with it the long way. Good Luck everyone.
I had the W32.Virut and it didn’t matter what anti-virus you was running (This happened on April 3rd 2009!) It hides it’s self away in System Volume Information…So if you back step and use Windows restore it reinfects you. After I removed this virus or least contained it to a separate partition…I study the Aftermath. 10000s files infected (All EXE files) but what is interesting is it CAN infect all types of files. I’m a musician and It infected Ableton Live and Cubase SX and when I saved my Project file the CPL file and the new WAV,WMA, or MP3 was infected with the W32.Virut…WARNING TO ALL - This is the baddest virus I’ve ever seen. My friend was joking with me and said it’s probably a Government Virus because I believe in Conspiracies and NWO/Illuminati stuff. Well this one maybe, It has government fingerprints all over it. AVAST was the only program that detected my Infection, I’m happy to report AVAST has a cure for it now but you still might want to use SAFEMODE. I had to reinstall Windows XP Home and my Factory OS is Vista so alot of my functions don’t work, but my Mackie Hardware doesn’t work on Vista OS…But I really HATE Vista. Too open to viral infections in it’s Security Holes. I gave up after 2 weeks fighting this, lol A quick FORMAT or FDISK will not simply do…You have to do a Through FORMAT at least 4- times. Because it came back, I suggest Unlocker for Deleting Files they was Access Denied when you try to move them to the recycling bin. So now there is a w32.virut.U strain - If you get this you better pawn your computer…XD It’s not worth the stress.
