Mr. Guddu Virus

A new worm that arrives in email attachment and spreads on local networks by infecting files such as .doc, .xls, .exp, .ppt, .mdb, .dba, .pdf, .jpg, .psd, .ai, .dwg, .mp3, .mpg, .zip, .rar, .qxd, .rdf, .rep, .fmx, .fmb and .cpp was reported by Symantec and called it W32.Gudek.

This worm can inject the message “Locked by Mr. Guddu” on the said files. It will be hard for an ordinary users to remove the infection manually because it can disables Windows process such as Windows Registry, Folder Options, Group Policy Editor, Command and Task Manager.

It may also display the following message on the tray menu:

Warning!
You are infected by Unknown Virus! Contact with Mr. Guddu! Mail at mr.guddu.bd@gmail.com

He told me but I did not believe it and so to see it my self , I took a file from his computer by pen drive and put it into my computer .Unfortunately in that time , I had no anti virus in my PC .As a result within a short time , Mr. Guddu show it’s power and deleted some of my important file , video , picture etc . I became surprised and tried to find out it solution as follow:
    1. AVG Anti-virus free version acts against it as it’s killer .
    2. The drives which are affected by it should not be deleted /copied any files .
    3. By data get back / data recovery software deleted files can be recovered but one thing must be remembered that after deleting files from any drives , no files should be copied or deleted from that drives .
    4.First scan through the affected drives by AVG Anti-virus free version with updates and then try to recover the deleted files by data get back or data recover software .
    5. I have already become successful to adopt these steps .
    6. Thanks to AVG Anti virus free version and thanks to data get /data recovery soft ware .

    I am the latest victim of Mr. Guddu. I talked over Mr. Jamal and suggested me the remedy also with the recovery software description. I hope to get all my data back. Wish me luck if any further suggestion.

    I think you din’t follow Mr. Jamaluddin’s post and did accordingly.

    What you should do
    1. don’t delete anything form the infected hard-drive.
    2. install avg freeware and scan the full hard disk.let the antivirus clean the system.
    3. download file form free file recovery websites and follow Recovery instructions.
    4. hopefully your files will be recovered.
    What I should specially tell you about Mr. Guddu Virus nature it does not destroy all the files, what it does it delete all your files in the recycled folder. So I should remind you again never delete anything manuallay unless you have recovered them all. You can also get help from Mr. Jamal, he is very helpfull in giving the solution. At least I was very much benificted.
