I have the Spyware Protect 2009 virus
I have spywear protect 2009. It is extremely difficult to do anything with! Everytime I go to download any fix it disconnects me! If anyone finds a solution with a way to get rid of without purchasing program through free download that will work and not disconnect or otherwise please contact me. I am very disappointed in not finding a fix at microsoft as I have so many of there products, but they can not offer a solution that fixes this without a charge!
1. Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (mbam-setup.exe) and save it on your Desktop.
2. After downloading, double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
3. Follow the prompts and install as “default” only
4. Before the installation completes, check on the following prompts:
- Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
5. Click “Finish.” Program will run automatically and you will be prompt to update the program before doing a scan. Please update.
6. Scan your computer thoroughly.
7. When scanning is finished click on the “Show Results”
8. Make sure that all detected threats are marked, click on Remove Selected.
9. Restart your computer.
Note: Some malware may prevent mbam-setup.exe from downloading and running. You can download and rename this program from a different computer before running it on infected system.
Thanks for your link in getting rid of this bugger of a thing.
I’m not really sure how I got tagged. Went to a site which is usually secure but for some reason I ended up with this.
It all worked a treat.
Thanks again Webmaster.

I discovered sysguard.exe on my computer after it crashed the other day while I was on e-bay! It locked up help files, firewall, DSL and other processes. The techs at Gateway had me d/l the Malwarebytes program, but there was a glitch…caused by sysguard. I found Avast at CNet’s download.com, d/l to flash drive (since DSL inop) and installed on desktop. Am presently running it on my desktop…and it seems to be working well.
I just got the damn spyware protect 2009 virus on my laptop. I deleted it manually. Now I can’t seem to get windows explorer to work. “a web page can not be displayed’ error keeps coming up. So I can’t open any webpages to download a fix. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you WEBMASTER!!! I picked up that dumb Spyware Protect 2009 last night on the Orange County Sheriff’s Office website looking at the Caylee Anthony evidence page. Who would’ve thought that page wouldn’t have been secure. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I’m sure you saved me a ton of money getting that junk off of my computer. The pop ups were driving me insane. McAfee anti-virus kept saying it caught it and removed it, however, it was still there popping up! I’m not too computer savvy, so I further appreciate your step by step instructions! Thank you again and if you don’t mind, please send me your email address…could’ve asked you and saved myself 12 hours of searching on Windows / McAfee for NO information on this threat!
Thanks Webmaster. Really appreciate your detailed instructions to fix the problem.
Thanks for the tip on removing Spyware 2009, your solution worked.
If you manage to get rid of the virus and internet explorer/firefox does not work, go to settings and check your lan settings. The virus changes the settings to connect you to a proxy server - change it back to auto detect settings and your internet will work again.
thanks dwoodwo1 i finally fixed IE
I got rid of Spyware Protect 2009 with Norton 360 after a war of the titans as it tried to keep 360 from updating. I could not install 360 normally and had to use the recovery tool. It tried to update for a while but finally said it couldn’t update and started to scan and finally deleted the nightmare program. Send the Navy Seals after the scum that wrote it!
THANK YOU WEBMASTER!
Your solution was the only one that worked for me. I’m no techee, but (once I could even get to the site without that blasted warning page showing up), it worked like a charm. And it cost me nothing - bonus! Many thanks for your post!
I cannot get this to work…
Spyware Protect 2009 has shut down so many of my programs on my laptop.
I even tried downloading the malware on to another computer and transfering the renamed file.
Please help
I dont know how I got this stupid virus, but after trying to deleting it in safe mode I have resorted my computer back to April and the little icon in the task bar isn’t there anymore. Do you think I might still have the virus??
