I have the virus explained above, but I cannot run any programs to rid my computer of it. They all lead me to ” do you want to purchase anti virus software now?”. Any suggestions to rid this virus are welcome. I have the MalwareBytes software installed previosly but cannot run it!!…Thanks in advance!
I am facing the same problem. Malwarebytes can not be run and nor th task manager. I think the rouge software disables it. I also found the file containing the virus but can not delete it!
Please help!
I was able to run Norton 360 while all the pop-up were happening. Norton did not even recognize it. So much for Norton anti-virus program
Panda did not find it either. Not even a scan booting from the CD. Task manager is locked. This is one nasty bug, it poops up porn sites randomly. I unplugged my internet after the pop-up window came up. It disables the firewall for a second but reports that it is down. If windows is monitoring your virus software it replaces it with the malware and tries and runs a fake scan that reports 34 viruses found. The “attacks” found seem to be random IP addresses. The scan window says “Antivirus Soft” and has a shield anti-virus logo like Microsoft.
So, what do we do then?? I can’t run any downloaded software because it says they’re infected…
As mentioned above, rename the mbam program so the virus does not recognize it by name.
I renamed the program several times and it still wont open it. Any ideas?
I ran mcafee full scan and didnt find anything. Would not let me run mbam either. Turned off computer, disconnected internet, turned on computer and was able to get mbam to start before virus started. Running scan now. Have my fingers crossed.
have any of you tried it in safe mode? i had the same prob but ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it worked without having to rename anything.
altho it only found 1 infected file and didn’t remove this problem. but did stop a spamming bug thingy
Had this same problem. I run Windows XT, Norton AV, and SpyBot S&D. My browser is Firefox. Managed to get rebooted and to run SpyBot S&D, which found 2 problems that I cleaned using SB S&D. Norton AV finds nothing.
But now I am in real trouble for my computer is completely unstable. I can reboot, apparently normally except that I get two messages: (a) “Your computer may be at risk. Norton Internet Worn Protection is turned off. Norton AntiVirus may be out of date. Click this balloon to fix this problem.” and (b) “Google Desktop did not start up successfully.”. Also, I am not linked to the Internet. With respect to the first message, the balloon in question, located on the task line, is the red “Window Security Alert” shield with the white saltire cross. Oddly, there are two such icons in the task line. If I click on either of these, my computer reboots.
So, I can run SB S&D, Norton AV – but neither finds any problems – and I can run Windows task Manager. But if I attempt to run almost anything else, my computer responds by rebooting without ceremony.
I have no idea of where to go from here. Help!
Problem has now some new aspects. I can now start up applications, but cannot get them to close. I still cannot access the internet.
Any ideas what sort of virus I have, and how it might be countered?
I figured this was a virus and have refused to allow it to scan my computer!!! I basically am being denied to open all my program except firefox. I guess these creeps don’t recognize it yet.
Does anyone know how to help me?? I have AVG9.0 security that was downloaded when I had my computer fixed last time. It is trying to tell me it is this that is infected.
HELP???
Lively_Waters… I had this same problem and mbam.exe did work in that it removed all the infections and left my system stable. However, I now have no connection to the internet, and I have no idea how to proceed to re-establish this. But download mbam from Malwarebytes….
I had this. It basically changes the internet connection settings – and redirecrts everythng through a local proxy server.
In IE – Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections
-> LAN Settings and clear the use proxy server.
This will let you get to the internet.
hi guys,
the instructions at bleepingcomputer
…/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-system-pro
are pretty good. You need to stop the processes and get the latest malwarebytes software, you need to do it in safe mode, and the internet has been redirected by the virus to a proxi server so you need only undo that to get the internet back, etc.
Guys, Look… Restart, straight away get your system restore open (quickly) and go back a few days…Problem solved. trust me.
I think that I can safely speak for (almost) all of us when I say im never watching phorn again.
Thanks for the tips on the internet though, i owe you my life indy!
Do as fixion says, it worked like a charm – it got rid of the nasty virus!
I can’t use my internet at all- I’m on my blackberry right now and this same thing is happening to me. I can’t go to malwarebytes or whatever because my internet won’t work. On my mozilla and IE it says “internet explorer warning- visiting this website may harm your computer!”
So far only gmail works but idk why
I don’t know what to do ugh I tried unchecking the proxy thing in my LAN settings but my ie still won’t work. I’m freaking out.
Everyone keeps saying run Rkill, which works for the current session, and then get the updated Malwarebytes and run it, which I do, but Malwarebytes doesn’t recognize this thing. Nor does McAfee. What gives?
Cnet – Download Rkill from a non infected computer – put it on a flash drive – at the same time download malwarebytes – Put them both in your infected computer’s desktops – Restart computer – go to internet options and bypass the proxy and select auto settings – detect settings – run rkill – RKill will stop the 2 or three processes that make this piece of Shhh… then run malwarebytes and you are home free once again … Peace
