After 24 hours of inaccessible, Twitter is now back. Still, nobody really knows what happened and how it happened. One conclusion arises that Twitter’s phenomenal growth over a year has undersized its infrastructure and was not able to withstand a huge surge of traffic. It was learned that FaceBook and LiveJournal also slowed down by the same scenario but never shut down.
How it happened? It is simply Distributed Denial of Service Attack (DDoS). A pro-Georgia blogger uses bots to scam Twitter users and sends huge Tweets and links to his own website that brought Twitter down.
