Trojan.Mespam sends malicious website address through instant messaging software. This trojan infects the computer by installing itself as a layered service provider.

HOW TO REMOVE Trojan.Mespam:

1. Temporarily Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP). [how to]
2. Update the virus definitions.
3. Reboot computer in SafeMode [how to]

4. Run a full system scan and clean/delete all infected files
5. Delete any values added to the registry. [how to edit registry]

Navigate to and delete the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinSock2\Buibert

 

6. Exit registry editor.

7. Reinstall the TCP/IP Protocol and restore the LSP order:
a) Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections >Local Area Connection.
b) Click Properties.
c) Click Install
d) Select Protocol.
e) Click Add.
f) Click Have Disk
g) Browse to the %Windir%\inf folder.
h) Click Open.
i) Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
j) Click OK and Restart the computer.
