Mobile phones are more vulnerable than other phones due to the following reasons: eavesdroppers can listen in on your private calls, and mobile phone thieves can bill their usage to your account.
In eavesdropping, any conversations using an analog cell phone can be tapped by eavesdroppers using a signal scanner. While, digital cell phone transmissions are encrypted for better security, but eavesdroppers with appropriate tools and equipments may be able to decrypt the signals and gather informations.
To protect your privacy, keep in mind that mobile-phone signals have to pass thru telecommunications providers and not all who operates are worth to trust. Never discuss or send confidential information such as credit card number or other sensitive information using your mobile phones, particularly sending those information using SMS.
It is also possible for mobile-phone thieves to intercept and SIM card numbers and use it to make phones calls charging the owner of the original phone number.
This is hard to prevent but you can always report whatever irregularities on your billing to your service provider.
There are dangers in using mobile-phones but it should not prevail over the fast-paced technology that we should learn and used to make our daily task much easier.
