“System has been slowed down due to malicious activity. Press OK to optimize.” will attempt to mislead computer users to download and install a rogue program AV Checker. It may look like a real pop-up from Windows, but the primary purpose is to promote a program via malicious methods. Once clicked, a connection to a remote computer will be established and begin a download of an executable file. If this type of warning prompts in front of you, ignore it and reboot the computer. Do a full virus scan when computer is started.

Receiving this message on the computer proves that a virus, trojan, malware or adware is present. Avoid executing any of its prompts nor execute any links it provided. Simply remove “System has been slowed down…” by this procedure.
1. Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (mbam-setup.exe) here and save it on your Desktop.
2. After downloading, double-click on the file to install the application.
3. Follow the prompts and install as “default” only.
4. If it prompts to update the database after installation, please proceed.
5. Click “Finish.” Program will run automatically and you will be prompt to update the program before doing a scan. Please update.
6. Scan your computer thoroughly.
7. When scanning is finished, click on the “Show Results”
8. Make sure that all detected threats are marked, click on Remove Selected.
9. Restart the computer.
