Trojan-Downloader.Braviax
Trojan-Downloader.Braviax is a Trojan that downloads additional malware from a remote location. The Trojan can also reduce security settings on the infected computer.
On some instances, Trojan-Downloader.Braviax is a threat detected by PC Security 2009, a rogue security application that spreads via Trojan downloader. The detected Trojan-Downloader.Braviax does not really exist on the computer. Displaying the threat on purpose aims to deceive computer users and makes them believe that a security program is needed to remove the infection.

Upon execution of Trojan-Downloader.Braviax, it overwrites the legitimate beep.sys driver file and drops a couple of files inside System directory. The Trojan will restart the computer after it performs initial tasks. When computer starts, the Trojan will display the following fake security alert, which intends to mislead user.

How to Remove Trojan-Downloader.Braviax
1. Temporarily Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP). [how to]
2. To be able to identify even the most recent variant of Trojan-Downloader.Braviax, open your antivirus application and update the virus definition file.
3. Start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking.
- From a power-off state, turn on the computer and press F8 on your keyboard repeatedly.
- Your computer will display Windows Advanced Boot Options menu. Please select Safe Mode with Networking.
- The system will now boot Windows and loads only necessary drivers and files.
4. Open your antivirus program and run a full system scan. After the scan, delete all infected items. If unable to delete, better place them in quarantine. Once the scan is complete, please proceed with the next step.
