Fake antivirus program TheDefend is being spread using the fake online virus scanner website TheDefend – Online Protection. It comes from a rogue family where SysDefence, GuardPCs and IGuardPcwas originated. These mentioned untrusted application share the same graphical user interface and virus scanning console. To be exact, TheDefend was just a clone of its latest variants.
When installed on computer, TheDefend virus will modify system settings so that it will run on the computer just like any other antivirus programs. TheDefend displays fake warning messages and pop-up alerts to mislead computer users that the system is infected and a purchase for the licensed version of the program is necessary. To remove TheDefend, one can use a free anti-malware tool and legit online virus scanner.
