If I try to click on the internet explorer logo it asks me which program i want to open it with. I am rubbish with computers and have no idea what to do. I tried to go on system restore but again it won't let me use that without asking me which program i want to use to open it. If I try to type in a word in a search engine it writes it in back to front. Help!

I had this virus and managed to get rid of it with Adaware but now have a whole range of problems, e.g. my left and right keypad buttons have been reversed and I can’t open the mouse menu in control panel as it says the application does not exist. After a while, it prevented all programs from running on my laptop. I have the latest version of McAfee, which failed to detect any of this. I downloaded the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware product on my desktop and renamed the executable to avoid potential problems with the virus. I put it on a thumb drive and ran it on my laptop as Administrator. It took a couple of hours to scan, detected 93 infected files (!), removed them, and everything works great like it did before the whole problem started.

I had the exact problem described here, with Vista Security saying I had harmful viruses and needed to purchase their product to remove. Thankfully I had malwarebytes (got it after a previous fiasco) and was unable to run it normally due to this annoying vista internet security thing. So I restarted in safe mode with networking. Still popped up with vista security. Still unable to open a web browser (even firefox). still wouldn't open MBAM normally. Checked for a solution on this page from another computer and saw the idea to right click on MBAM and click open as administrator and poof! Found the infection right away and got rid of it! Restarted normally and I am able to open avg, web browsers, and MBAM. Ran full scans with all and restarted again. Finished! What a headache though... Good luck!

If you don’t have malwarebytes by now, you need to get it! Restarted again in regular mode and virus seems to be gone. Hooray. BTW, I use Firefox, was not on any porn sites and ran into this one 2 yrs ago. I actually bought the scam software for $100, BUT I got every cent back from Moscow. No kidding!

Restarted in safe mode and ran anti=malware which removed six registry keys. Restarted again in regular mode and virus seems to be gone. I closed down av.exe, tried to surf for a solution and it just created more pop-ups because it infect all executable links.Restarted, couldnt restart. Then Vista suggested a repair on the startup stuff. It failed then used system restore.Restarted again and voila,,,,no probs. Seems like to go back a day or 2 using system restore will do wonders for you before doing a full system scan.

I had an infection from this virus. McAfee kept telling me it had found it, that it had fixed it, but it kept popping back up. I couldn't open *any* programmes, it kept asking me to suggest a programme from the list, which didn't work. The other user accounts on the PC were unaffected (I wasn't using the master account). I logged into another account and did a system restore back to two days prior, which freed up all my programmes. Then I did a full virus scan with McAfee which found just one infected file, that it then removed. I double-checked with Microsoft's virus remover thingy and nothing showed up. The virus had hidden its self in the Java folders somewhere, so I installed the latest version of Java just to be safe but I've never once not accepted an auto update of Java so I don't know why I was running an old variant of version 6. I'm annoyed that a) Chrome (which is supposed to be a safer browser than IE8) let it through and b) that McAfee let it through!! If I'd been using IE8 I suspect that I would have, as I have in previous instances, been blocked from being auto-directed to the virus-riddled website. Touch wood, it all seems fine. If you can, a system restore from another user account is worth a try.

I know people have said similar stuff to this before, but I thought I’d share my experiences: I got auto-directed to some website in Polish and literally within seconds this fake-looking Security Centre popped up and the virus was was playing havoc with McAfee.
