To backup the whole Windows XP registry please follow these steps.
1. Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then click OK.
2. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Create a restore point, and then click Next .

  • It is important to back up the registry before making any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files.
    To edit Windows registry:
    1. Click Start > Run
    2. Type regedit at the box
    3. Click OK
    4. Windows registry will appear.

  • Starting computer in SafeMode was useful when troubleshooting computer problems by limiting the resources it loads when Windows is started.
    1. During boot-up process Press F8 on keyboard continuously until selection appears
