Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj]
Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj] is a harmful Trojan that steals information from an infected computer. It also acts as Trojan downloader, capable of dropping other malicious files on the system. Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj] is a heuristic detection for a Trojan that supposedly belongs to a Win32:Delf family. This detection means that this Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj] has parallel characteristics to other members on its group. Similarly, these Trojans may initiate adware installation, browser redirection and backdoor attacks.
Generally, Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj] will drop a copy of itself to Temporary folder of Windows. Then it modifies the registry to begin its operation when Windows starts. The Trojan will hide user’s folder and create a duplicate of it in executable format. Access to these folders will mean Trojan execution. Remember that the folder is actually an executable file bearing only a folder icon. This leads to the spread of infection to other folders and drives.
To prevail over this Trojan, computer user must always have virus protection that can provide real-time scan. In addition, it is significant that the software contains the latest update to identify even the most recent viruses.

Per some discussions, I found out that this Win32:Delf-MZG was a bug or some sort. Please try to update your Avast antivirus first and see if the warning still appears. If not, this was just a software bug.

Please note that AVAST had a buggy update in the night (europe time) from 2nd to 3rd of december 2009 detecting Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj] in almost every running application. So if an affection with Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj] is reported, check first that you did not run into that bug that may destroy your system and your applications.

Thanks Prolo spent the better part of today trying to find this trojan. It kept popping up and I couldn’t find it. Was off the network to not infect other computers so didn’t update AVAST. Thought I had something new that I couldn’t find with hijackthis.

I had Win32:Delf-MZG a couple of days ago. It corrupted Spybot S&D,Yahoo Anti-spy,Adaware,Registry Mechanic,Gensmarts and some system stuff. Avast detected it while I was watching some videos on youtube. It was a pain but I got everything back to normal now.

I got the update Wednesday night (AUS time) and when I booted up Thursday, I got the trojan window from the update, but i can’t get to the start menu to do anything. If I get into safe mode, can it be fixed with the patch?
thanks
